Weighing Scales

A weighing scale is a mechanical or digital device used to measure weight.

A weighing scale is a device used to measure weight. It has two major variants, the mechanical and the digital weighing scales. The digital weighing scale is easy to operate and features a small LCD display where the weight is shown. The digital weighing scale operates on external power source mainly battery, and the presence of electronic circuit makes it a very delicate instrument. Currently, weighing machines available in the market provides additional features such as facility to measure height, body mass index etc in addition to the weight.

Weighing scales are widely available in many different sizes, capacities and readabilities. They are ubiquitous: most of the objects we use or consume every day have been weighed and some even display the weight or the content’s weight on the package.

Here you will find a large selection of accurate and reliable digital as well as manual weighing scales available in Zambia for all applications and industries. Whether its a platform, bench, floor, weighbridge, crane, dimensional, jeweler's, point of sale or pallet scale you are looking for, you will definitely find something suitable.

Some of them can be easily integrated into existing operations and networks. When paired with sophisticated software or indicators, they form a complete weighing and data analysis system.

Almost everyone uses scales. While there are a lot of different scales in various industries, the purpose of weighing is always the same: to obtain a precise quantification of the matter that makes up various objects in order to use that number to transport, record, process or use the object or matter more efficiently.

The Etekcity EB9380H is one of the most accurate and precise digital bathroom scales we've tested. Many inexpensive bathroom scales respond reliably only to a weight change on the order of half a pound, or, as we found through our testing, will even pull your weight readings from memory without trying to measure you.

Types of Weighing Scales

  • Strain Gage Load Cells. This design has become the industry standard over the last half a century.
  • Force Motor Scales.
  • Ultra Precision Scales: SAW Technology.

There are two main categories of scales: mechanical and digital.

  • Mechanical scales: The mechanism of mechanical scales vary, but most commonly use a spring. The weight is applied and the measurement is shown by a moving dial.
  • Digital scales: This type of scale employs the use of a special electrical circuit.

Test a scale that rounds to the nearest gram.

Place one nickel on the scale and note the weight. Place another nickel on the scale and note the new weight. Place one more nickel on the scale and note the weight. If your scale is accurate, the weight should have gone up by 5g each time.

Digital weighing scales are preferable as they're more accurate than analog scales. If you select an analogue weighing scale, over a period of time, the responsiveness of spring reduces and possibly will give inaccurate values.
