Veterinary Science

Books in Veterinary Science and Medicine, for students and professionals.

Veterinary science as a subject concerns the treatment of a range of different animals – from domestic pets to farmyard animals – and combines an array of subjects like anatomy and animal behaviour, as well as niche subjects like parasitology and gastroenterology.

Veterinary medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, control, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, disorder, and injury in animals. Along with this, it deals with animal rearing, husbandry, breeding, research on nutrition, and product development.

Veterinary science books cover many of the same topics found on a medical degree, but with a focus on animals instead of humans. Course modules may include anatomy, animal behavior, animal husbandry, cell biology, nutrition, physiology, genetics, epidemiology, pharmacology, infectious diseases, pathology, parasitology and public health.

Summary

Veterinary science deals with the wellness and health of all the animals and humans (by preventing the spread of fatal viruses). Much like human medical care, veterinary science is competitive and demanding. It rewards you with status, employability, and of course, the satisfaction of contributing towards the environment at the end of the day. Because most people are very fond of pets these days, veterinary science provides high employment opportunities in both the private and public sector.

In fact, most schools require several hundred hours of experience shadowing a vet or working at a vet hospital before an applicant will even be considered. Strong grades in math and science provide a good foundation and help ensure acceptance into a four-year college.

A Veterinary degree deals with the health and wellbeing of animals. Under the umbrella of Veterinary degrees, there's Veterinary Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Therapy. A Veterinary degree typically takes five to six years to complete.

The BVSc course is a five-year course. MVSc: To pursue a course in Master of Veterinary Science, the candidate needs to have completed their BVSc from a recognised university and should have secured a minimum of 50% in their graduation.

No medical related career can be pursued without math. It's not necessarily useful for every medical career but a lot of med and vet schools use these classes to weed out weaker students as these classes are generally tough and med/vet school will only get harder.
