Masonry is the art, science and industry of building with stone. The common materials of masonry construction are brick, building stone such as marble, granite, and limestone, cast stone, concrete block, glass block, and adobe. Masonry is generally a highly durable form of construction brick is masonry materials and is the preferred medium of construction. Stucco as a building material is highly durable, and as brick and stone, is highly resistant to damage. Stone, similar to brick, is durable, fireproof, bug proof, and free of moisture. Due to the size and density of concrete blocks, walls can be built very quickly. Cement, gypsum, lime are other masonry materials that can be found here in Zambia.
Masonry construction begins with extractive materials, such as clay, sand, gravel, and stone, usually mined from surface pits or quarries. The most widely used rocks are granite (igneous), limestone and sandstone (sedimentary), and marble (metamorphic).
Masonry consists of building structures from single units that are laid and bound together with mortar. Brick, stone and concrete blocks are the most common materials used in masonry construction.

Mortar is a material used in masonry construction to fill the gaps between the bricks and blocks. Mortar is a mixture of sand, a binder such as cement or lime, and water and is applied as a paste which then sets hard.
The main difference is that masonry is the name of a building practice using other materials, while concrete is a type of building material. But while the two are very different, they often go hand in hand.
The materials like metal, sand, bricks, steel, cement, concrete, glass, plastic, etc are used to build a house. These materials used to build a house play a very important role in deciding the strength and durability of the house.
