Energy minerals are used to produce electricity, fuel for transportation, heating for homes and offices and in the manufacture of plastics. Energy minerals include coal, oil, natural gas and uranium. Metals have a wide variety of uses.
Energy resources are things we can use to turn into electrical power or resources that generate energy. These include fossil fuels, nuclear, wind, water and solar power whereas mineral resources are solid , crystalline substances made inside the earth . These include marble , granite , limestone etc.
Mineral resources are non-renewable and include metals (e.g. iron, copper, and aluminium), and non-metals (e.g. salt, gypsum, clay, sand, phosphates). Minerals are valuable natural resources being finite and non-renewable.
Minerals are classified into two types: Metallic and non-metallic. Metallic Minerals: They are further sub-divided into ferrous and non-ferrous. Ferrous minerals: They contain iron.

In traditional surface and underground mining, hammers and chisels with pickaxes and shovels are used. Minecarts are used to move ore and other materials in the process of mining. Pans are used for placer mining operations, such as gold panning.
Underground Mining. In each of these mining methods, various earth-moving equipment including shovels, dozers, hauling trucks, and loaders are used to remove and transport the ore.
Ores recovered by mining include metals, coal, oil shale, gemstones, limestone, chalk, dimension stone, rock salt, potash, gravel, and clay.
