Cherry Hills International School offers high-quality, affordable services to children whose parents wish to give them the best education, care and experience. At present the school enrolls children from one year eight months through to Grade 3 (7 to 9 year-olds); with the remaining primary grades set to be offered later in 2024. These will be housed in a newly-constructed, purpose-built double-story classroom block.

<h3>Lower Primary</h3><p>Through continuous assessments and end-of-term exams, student progress is carefully monitored with additional support and reinforcement provided as needed. Our small class sizes (15 to 20 students) enable a more individualised teaching and learning to take place with a lot of scope for group-work, practical activities and projects to enrich and develop a deeper understanding of the content.</p><h3>Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs)</h3><p>To help supplement the school&#x27;s broad curriculum, a wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered to the children. Currently, there are afternoon sessions available in Art, Drama, Dance, Spelling-Bee and French Culture. Each term, new ECAs will be offered and some existing ones discontinued in an effort to keep things ever vibrant and relevant to our children’s interests, as well as to incorporate seasonal changes in our weather. This includes offering swimming, football/soccer and mini-cricket.</p><p></p><h3>Additional information</h3><p>The classes at Cherry Hills Primary Unit are designed to include a variety of activities that keep students engaged and excited about learning, while allowing them to explore their individual interests. Cherry Hills International School currently offers Grades 1, 2 and 3 (children aged 6 to 8/9 years old) with Grades 4, 5 and 6 classes anticipated for the 2024/25 academic year. In its primary section, Cherry Hills International School follows the Cambridge Primary Programme, utilising CIE (Cambridge International Education) approved and endorsed textbooks, workbooks and supplemental educational materials for the main subjects of English, Maths, Science and Social Studies. The curriculum also includes I.T (Information Technology), French Language and P.E. Extra-curricular activities currently include Art, Drama, Dance, Spelling-Bee and French Culture.


Primary schools

<h3>Baby Class</h3><p>The education provided largely follows the International Pre-School Curriculum (IPC) – an American programme that uses a thematic approach to cover a wide range of universal topics from which age-appropriate lessons are devised.</p><p></p><p>Don’t worry if your child is not yet potty trained as this is an integral component of the Baby Class programme. With patience and positive reinforcement, children will soon learn the basics of personal hygiene and taking care of their belongings in a fun, caring and nurturing classroom environment.</p><h3>Nursery Class</h3><p>The IPC programme provides the framework to guide our teaching and learning, which utilises a broad range of thematic topics for children to develop an appreciation of and understanding about the world around them.</p><h3>Additional information</h3><p>Early exposure to a broad curriculum boosts intellectual curiosity, encourages creativity, and enhances social skills. The Cherry Hills “Baby Class” provides a nurturing environment for a child’s first experience of school. With a small class size, a full-time teacher, a classroom assistant and a child-minder, the little ones thrive on a “diet” of social interaction, language development and sensory play. The “Nursery Class” at Cherry Hills is targeted at 3-year-old children and is very much an extension of the learning that has already taken place with the younger learners in the Baby Class. The class teacher is assisted by an early years qualified teaching assistant. The main educational focus is to develop pre-reading, pre-writing and pre-numeracy skills in learners as letters, phonics and numbers are introduced through a wide range of hands-on learning activities.

The Cherry Hills “Middle Class” provides a bridge between the youngest learners and the transition to a more formalised teaching and learning that begins at the kindergarten stage. This class is primarily for 4-year-old children, who look to cement their conceptual understanding of the basic literacy and numeracy skills needed for a firm foundation as they progress onto their primary education. The “Reception Class” at Cherry Hills is aimed at 5-year-old children, who have already mastered number and letter recognition, writing of the letters and numbers and the beginnings of reading 2 and 3-letter words. In this class, we look to transition learners into the UK National Curriculum, E.Y.F.S (Early Years Foundation Stage) in readiness for their progression into our primary programme of instruction.
